Labor Day Weekend Success at House Mountain
Over Labor Day weekend, the McDonald Equine team traveled to the Virginia Horse Center for the SWVEP House Mountain Horse Show. With a great group of clients, horses, and riders, we had an incredibly successful few days filled with great rides, learning moments, and exciting wins.
Champion Ribbons and Standout Performances
Envy, owned by Kayleigh Burke and shown by Alexis Hinds, was Champion in both the Special Children’s and Intermediate Equitation divisions.
Fergalicious and Alexis Hinds also brought home Champion honors in the Hopeful Hunters.
Chicago Man and Katherine Hall had a fantastic weekend, finishing as Champion in the Long Stirrup Hunters and Reserve Champion in the Long Stirrup Equitation.
Industrious I Will Be, owned by Katie Rice of Empowered Equestrian and shown by Kayleigh, was Champion in the Hopeful Hunters.
Ashby Tinsley and Count on Me earned Champion in the SWVEP Intro and Reserve Champion in the SWVEP Novice.
Fergalicious and Liz Hinds continued their strong season, finishing as Champion in the .7m Jumpers.
Gaylord Captain, owned by Jennifer Hendrix and shown by Kayleigh, was Champion in the Green Hunters. Jennifer also showed him in the Low Hunters, earning great ribbons and continuing to build a strong partnership.
Additional Highlights
Cassanova’s Fiddler and Lindsay Klein delivered consistent rounds and brought home impressive ribbons in the Special Adults.
Legally Blonde and Kayleigh Burke earned good ribbons in the 3’3” Working Hunters, and Legally Blonde also finished 2nd in the Hollins Medal with rider Dawna Ross.
Uptown and Ellen Gerdus placed 4th, 4th, and 6th in a competitive division of 10 entries a great outing for this promising young horse.
A special shout-out to Chris Wholwend and Morrie, who joined us to school at the show and gain valuable experience in a show environment.
We are incredibly proud of all our riders, owners, and horses for their hard work, sportsmanship, and continued growth. Thank you to everyone who supported our team throughout the weekend.
